Redeemed

So, I was thinking today on all the truths of who God says I am in Christ. God’s child, Chosen, Accepted, Beloved, Righteous, Whole, Adopted, Predestined, Justified, Sanctified, Glorified. Then one more came to mind, Redeemed. Oh my, I remember being in Church a few weeks ago and someone said that word and it cut to my heart…a reminder that I am redeemed. That is who I am, someone who God chose to purchase back to Himself by His blood. One more word came to me as I was writing this, and that word is sought after. God seeks after His own. Through trials and temptations, God is always caring for us and making sure we are known by Him. How Great a God we have.
Sometimes, I think we can hear a word about who we are and not really let it sink into the soil of our hearts so that it becomes something from which we function. So, let us look at this word redeemed.
The NAS (New American Standard Bible) Exhaustive Concordance shows of this word redeemed:
avenger (13), bought back (1), buy back (1), claim (1), close relative (3), closest relative (3), closest relatives (1),
ever wish to redeem (2), kinsman (2), redeem (22), redeemed (25), redeemer (1), Redeemer (18), redeems (1), relative (2), relatives (1), rescue (1), wishes to redeem (1).
Do any of these words stand out to you? Meditate on each of them for a bit and let them sink in.
How about "wishes to redeem?" Something Jesus wants to do and that He does - He comes for us. How about "bought back?" This is tied closely to the atonement - Jesus gave up His life as a sacrifice for our sins (paying the price) and purchasing us (with His own blood). He redeemed us from bondage to sin, from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (Gal 3:13-14). "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." (1 Pet 2:24 KJV).
Do you think that anything else in life could be greater than knowing that God bought you back to Himself? I don’t think so. In fact, I know not. Therefore, continue in Him, don’t let Him out of your sight. He is the true sin bearer.
LORD, I pray that whoever is reading this truly understands this forgiveness from Heaven. You sacrificed Your Son, who paid the price for our sins by shedding His own blood, redeeming us back to You. YOU did this, Lord and we thank You and praise You! Nothing in all the world can compare to what You have done. We are Yours! Forever! And NOTHING can change that or take that away from us. We love you deeply, whole heartedly and faithfully.
